Model United Nations Assembly

Global Voices in the Highlands

Each May, the Wingecarribee Shire Council chambers come alive with passionate voices and international perspectives as high school students from across the Southern Highlands gather for the annual Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA). This inspiring youth program gives students the chance to step into the shoes of UN delegates, representing countries from around the globe and debating real-world issues that mirror those tackled by the United Nations.

With flags flying and country placards in hand, students engage in lively debate, diplomacy, and negotiation, all while learning the complexities of international relations and the importance of understanding diverse viewpoints. Whether discussing climate change, global security, or human rights, each team passionately presents their adopted country’s stance, aiming to build consensus and pass resolutions – just like the real UN.

MUNA is not only an educational experience, but a powerful reminder that the leaders of tomorrow are already finding their voice today.
